The Mortal Kombat section of FFN?

Finally has a character sorter.

This means I can actually go looking specifically FOR MY OTP of like fifteen YEARS. USING THE CHARACTER SORTER. Which we now have. In our section.

If I grokked sparkletext, now would be a time I would use it.

The Mortal Kombat section finally has a character sorter.

First time this year I have something I'd really like to post. And I'd really like to post it on Mondays and Wednesdays.

And I can't. Because FFN's uploader has been down for the last two days. And I know it's only the last two, 'cause you have to log in to leave signed reviews.

I love how they're like, "Please come back in a few minutes."

Okay. Except for the part where FORTY-EIGHT HOURS is actually more than twenty-eight hundred minutes.

That's not "a few". I totally started laughing about it the other day. EVERY. TIME. They try to "upgrade" or "repair" something, they utterly fuck it up. It's guaranteed. And when they change something, and it actually works? It's like they say to themselves, "It's not completely fucked yet! LET'S FIX THAT."

And they always do.

Oh, FFN. Never change. ^_^

You can has cutting room floor cuttings. They are not Shadows, but they represent a FINISHED Mortal Kombat product in their own right, which is nothing short of miraculous for me. Seriously, have you seen my update record? I am entitled to a little bragging.

To the bad: somehow, Greed/Martel file completely disappeared. It is GONE. I may have accidentally deleted it while cleaning out folders in the middle of a migraine? Clearly the smartest thing I have ever, ever done...

To the ugly: Mirrorworld still hurts.

And in the exciting department: well, I want to save the squeeful for when we're actually done, so it's a celebration and all, but let's just say I'm thrilled with what I'm working on and who I'm working on it with, and leave it there. *Prr prr <3*

I did research.

I knew there had to be a way to get what I wanted. I forget what the other problem with the mechanics was, but I'm sure it will reassert itself at the least convenient possible point, as these things tend to.

...Let's not talk characterization problems right now. I'd probably burst into tears. XD

Usually, I get stuff done all-at-once, but when I don't, it looks like that. *Pokes with stick.*

Woke up at five. Slept at eight. Had bitching nonstop nightmares until four. Woke up in the obligatory cold sweat and sat down to write.

So I wrote.

My point: script format works. It's a good way to push over hurdles, especially if you're on a tight schedule or working with a smaller fic.

"Three" has taken me five years.

If you stacked all the time that I actually worked on it together from end-to-end, including failed or missing drafts (there are over twenty-four as of this entry), it probably took about nine months to a year, tops.

The whole thing where my life turned itself inside out and then exploded?

Kind of more important than what happens after Baraka and Mileena have make-up sex.

Perspective is a healthy thing.

I just...really love writing Telsor's dialogue. It makes me happy. ^_^

I did some actual math with my ffnet account, and what it tells me is simple:

I need to write more slash, and I need to write it in larger fandoms. XD

I sat at the computer today with a plan.

“Fuck yeah! I’m gonna rock this Mirrorworld thing the fuck OUT. Yeah! Woo!”

I sat down with the two scenes I had before and started knocking out the third, because it’s semi-easy “villains talk about what they’re gonna do”, mostly-description filler.

I started dividing everyone into teams so I could get them into different traps on their way up the Nightmare Tower. And that was where I stopped.

I blinked. “Wait. Uh. Who’s in Mirrorworld?”

That’s kind of bad. XD

I consulted the roster, and removed some people, and that got me to thinking about the fic itself.

I meant it when I said “work in progress”.

Besides, for me to go back and slather a bunch of new paint on an old building?

I just saw feathery yellow hair and big eyes I took to be green and went "WHY IS BRIN IN ELFQUEST BBQZ I SUX0RZ NOES".

Well. Now we know where the hair came from.

It matters.

I knew the "royal blood", who had no name in canon at that time, and the mutants, were both aliens about...five years before I'd heard of this fandom.

I forget how I got into it, exactly. If memory serves, I was looking for Wonder Woman stuffs to read and found EQ by accident.

Weirdly enough, I was also calling the gods in an original project "High Ones Unseen" before I got into MK, let alone EQ, but that's nothing special. I'd imagine one of the first things people do with a pantheon is try to name them in terms of their elevated status. XD
